PARENT VOLUNTEER HOURS PROGRAM
The St. Gerald Parent Volunteer Program is a vital component of cultivating the culture of service we have here at St. Gerald. Upon enrolling your child, you acknowledged the requirement of all families to volunteer for 10 hours over the school year. Families that do not volunteer for the required hours will be assessed a fee of $500 or $50 per unfulfilled hour.
Why do we have Parent Volunteer Hours?
St. Gerald Catholic School has a strong tradition of supportive, hard-working parents and prides itself on the care and generosity of all our parents and community members who volunteer their time, talent, and treasure to our school. Volunteers are an integral part of the school's success. This program provides each family with an opportunity to help us achieve a Christ-centered Catholic education that inspires academic excellence, gratitude, and service.
Minimum Hour Requirement
Each family is required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per year. This requirement is per family, not per student, meaning families with multiple students attending St. Gerald at the same time are only required to complete 10 hours.
Due Date
All volunteer hours for the school year must be completed by May 20. Families who do not fulfill the required number of volunteer hours will incur a $500 fee charged to their FACTS account on June 1, 2027.
Reporting Volunteer Hours through FACTS
Parents/legal guardians are solely responsible for tracking and reporting their volunteer hours through FACTS. We recommend that you submit volunteer hours within two weeks of the volunteer event.
Volunteer activities must directly benefit St. Gerald Catholic School and/or Church to count towards the required hours. Community service to other non-profit organizations, while charitable, does not count toward the St. Gerald Parent Volunteer Hours requirements. A list of opportunities to complete these hours is included in the attached form, with additional options communicated via email and the website throughout the year. Uncompleted hours by the school year's end will be added to your FACTS account.
How do I Submit my Volunteer Hours?
Log in to the FACTS Family Portal
- Click "Family" on the left side.
- Find the box labeled "Service Hours."
- Use the dropdown box to select the person completing the volunteer task.
- Click on "Add."
- Fill in date, hours, description, and note.
- Keep "Verified by" blank, as this is for office use only.
Who Can Complete the Volunteer Hours?
Hours may be completed by parents, guardians, or grandparents. The Parent Volunteer Program is separate from any student volunteer opportunities such as Student Council, Altar Serving, or Confirmation hours.
Verification of Hours
Quarterly notifications will be emailed to families verifying hour completed.
Safe Environment Training
All parishioners and parents who volunteer at our parish and school must attend a Safe Environment Training. Classes are offered at various locations in the Omaha Metro area. You must pre-register for class at https://omaha.cmgconnect.org.

Can I Pay a Fee Instead of Completing the 10-hour Requirement?
While we encourage parents to complete the required volunteer hours instead of choosing the buyout option, parents who wish to exercise the “buyout” option will pay a fee of $500.
What if I Complete Some, but not all, of my Required Hours?
We encourage you to complete all the hours required. However, you may buy down your hours at a prorated rate of $50 per unmet hour.
